LoyalMe privacy policy

Last updated 21 October 2026

LoyalMe shows your loyalty card when you're at a store. It's built to do that without collecting anything about you. This policy explains what the app uses and where it goes.

The short version

Location, including in the background

LoyalMe uses your device's location to work out which store you're in, so your card can be on your lock screen and watch when you reach the checkout. If you choose Allow all the time, LoyalMe uses your location even when the app is closed or not in use, for this purpose only. Location is processed on your device, compared against a store list stored on your device, and never sent to us or anyone else.

You can change this at any time in Android Settings → Apps → LoyalMe → Permissions → Location. With location set to "Only while using the app", LoyalMe still works when you open it.

Wi-Fi

To tell which store you're in when GPS is weak indoors, LoyalMe looks at nearby Wi-Fi network names and access-point identifiers. When it's confident you're at a store, it remembers the Wi-Fi seen there so it can recognise the store next time. This information is stored only on your device.

Loyalty card numbers

The card numbers you enter or scan are stored on your device so the app can draw the barcode. If you have a Wear OS watch, they're copied to your watch using Google's Wearable Data Layer so it can show the card. LoyalMe doesn't sign in to, or connect with, any loyalty program account.

Camera

If you tap the scanner, Google's on-device barcode scanner (part of Google Play services) reads the barcode on your physical card. LoyalMe receives only the number and format. LoyalMe doesn't take, store or upload photos.

Notifications

LoyalMe shows your card as a notification when you're at a store. Notifications are created on your device.

Network use

Once a week, LoyalMe downloads an updated public list of store locations from AllThePlaces. The request is for the whole national list; it doesn't include your location or anything about you. As with any internet request, the server can see your IP address.

Google Play services

LoyalMe uses Google Play services for location, the barcode scanner and phone-to-watch sync. Google's handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

Backups

If you've turned on Android backup, your device may include LoyalMe's local data (your cards and learned store Wi-Fi) in its backup to your Google account. That's controlled by your Android settings, not by us.

Deleting your data

All of LoyalMe's data lives on your devices. Remove a card in the app, clear the app's storage, or uninstall LoyalMe to delete it.

Children

LoyalMe isn't directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above.
